Overview

Our legal professionals provide services to the FBI workforce on a wide range of substantive areas and serve in various roles, working closely with intelligence, law enforcement, domestic and foreign government agencies, private sector partners and academia to support the FBI’s mission.

Examples of Legal Roles

  • Attorneys provide counsel to FBI investigative, intelligence, and administrative programs; help the FBI navigate a broad array of statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements; coordinate on arguments and strategy for litigation; develop and deliver legal training; and collaborate with legal professionals across the government and other sectors.

  • Paralegal specialists assist attorneys in conducting research, preparing legal pleadings, and reviewing and analyzing case material for various assignments.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Minimum Qualifications

For all attorney positions, you must have the following:

  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; and,

  • Active membership in good standing of the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction.
